With my strong passion for construction bricks, I have investigated sets offered by multiple manufacturers, each of which showcases a unique spectrum of quality. Inspired not only by my infatuation with LEGOs but also by the LED lights that promised a luminous pirate ship design, the Jmbricklayer Glowing Pirate Ship model captured my attention. My thorough review is as follows.

Overview

Denoted as “The Flying Dutchman”, the Jmbricklayer Glowing Pirate Ship is composed of more than 1100 components and features a collection of nine LED lights that are powered via a USB-A port. The meticulous sectioning of the components in the packaging enhanced its aesthetic appeal and facilitated the assembly procedure.

Specify the contents of the container

The thoughtfully organized 1100+ bricks into four sections, the instruction manual, and the LED lighting equipment were discovered upon unboxing, thereby enhancing the overall building experience.

A departure from conventional pirate ship aesthetics, the design and features of The Glowing Pirate Ship embrace an eerie, overgrown motif characterized by seaweed, angular edges, and intentional deterioration. The aft section is furnished with intricate details such as lanterns and a captain’s suite, in addition to rows of green non-firing cannons and a menacing fanged maw at the front.

Squid/pirate printing adorned the sails, which were consistently problematic in other sets, in an impeccable flatness. The eerie atmosphere was further enhanced by the introduction of an alluring glow from the LED lighting system, which consisted of nine green lights.

Constructing

The ease of use of the instruction manual guaranteed a seamless construction experience. The distinctness between light grey and dark grey sections was evident, thereby alleviating frequent concerns encountered in sets of inferior quality. Although it was necessary to make some additional steps back, which is typical of the design of my building, the instructions for installing LEDs were clear and eliminated any uncertainty.

Nevertheless, the lower decks were tedious and uneven, necessitating cautious manipulation to avoid inadvertent disassembly due to their lack of stability. Notwithstanding this, particularly for an individual who was not acclimated to sets with built-in lighting, the explicit instructions regarding LED installation were valued.

Pros & Cons

Pros:

  • Sleek and of high quality brick.
  • When assessed, a reasonable cost per brick.
  • Exterior design and details are truly remarkable.
  • Lighting effects are improved by the incorporation of LEDs.

Cons:

  • Lower deck foundation instability.
  • The LED lights do not have an on/off control.
  • There is room for an extended USB power cable.

Final Thoughts

It was a pleasure to construct the Jmbricklayer Glowing Pirate Ship, which is why the final product is so enthralling. It is a delectable addition to any collection, as it accommodates ship, pirate, and ghost aficionados. Notwithstanding minor concerns, brick aficionados in search of an original and illuminating adornment for their exhibits should contemplate this set due to its integrated LED function, quality, and design.
