The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro Multiplatform Wireless Gaming Headset for PlayStation is the latest offering from Turtle Beach, aiming to set a new standard in gaming headsets. Building upon the success of the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, this headset retains the exceptional audio quality while introducing exciting features like active noise cancellation (ANC) and improved battery management. Our sincere thanks to Turtle Beach for providing this headset for review.
This Turtle Beach headset has taken a page from its successful Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, maintaining the use of 50mm Nanoclear Drivers for impressive audio quality, a high-quality boom microphone, and a 2.4GHz dongle for seamless wireless connectivity.
The dongle, now enhanced, doubles as a charging station for the included second battery pack. This innovation ensures that the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro is always ready for action, allowing for quick battery swaps. However, the slightly larger dongle now serves as a base station, occupying more space, and includes an LED light that cannot be disabled.
An exciting addition is the Stealth Pro’s ability to connect simultaneously to your phone or other devices via Bluetooth. This feature enables you to take calls while gaming or enjoy music. It’s important to note that a 3.5mm cable connection option is absent.
The Turtle Beach Audio Hub app offers a wealth of customization options. From volume control to ANC and Superhuman hearing settings, equalizer adjustments, microphone settings, and button customizations, the app is a valuable companion to enhance your experience. Some users might find room for improvement in the app’s interface and the persistence of certain settings like ANC and Superhuman hearing.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro Multiplatform Wireless Gaming Headset is compatible with a range of gaming platforms and devices. Here are the compatible devices:
The Stealth Pro boasts a sleek and understated design, making it suitable for both gaming and public outings, though its size remains relatively large. Physical controls for power, Bluetooth, Superhuman hearing, and ANC are thoughtfully included. The volume adjustment dial is particularly convenient, and the detachable microphone adds versatility.
Memory foam ear cushions enveloped in leatherette provide a comfortable fit around your ears. The headband, also using these materials, feels comfortable initially but may cause slight discomfort during extended gaming sessions. Adequate padding and premium materials ensure overall comfort, with the only minor drawback being warmth around the ears over time, typical of closed-back headphones.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro delivers an impressive soundstage, immersing you in the gaming world. Game scores come to life, and distant footsteps are distinctly audible, enhancing your gaming experience significantly. The addition of ANC further isolates you from external distractions, elevating immersion.
Customization options within the Turtle Beach Audio Hub app allow precise tuning of treble, bass, and even vocal settings. Advanced users can utilize the 10-Band equalizer for finer adjustments, tailoring audio to their preferences.
While the ANC in the Stealth Pro doesn’t match the top-tier headphones, it performs admirably, reducing ambient noise by approximately 80%. This level of ANC suffices for immersive gaming experiences, with any minor shortcomings negligible, especially during gameplay.
Lowering ANC levels in the app proves to be of limited utility, as the difference between 50% and off is minimal. This, however, extends battery life.
Just as with the Stealth 700 Gen 2 Max, the Stealth Pro’s microphone garners praise for its clarity. The boom mic is detachable and features a flip-to-mute function. Additionally, concealed microphones provide utility when the boom mic is removed.
Turtle Beach rates the Stealth Pro for 12+ hours of usage on a single charge, ideal for most gaming sessions. ANC can be disabled to extend battery life further. A second battery is included, charging within the 2.4GHz wireless transmitter and offering up to three hours of use after just 15 minutes of charging. This ensures a quick and seamless battery swap, albeit requiring a trip to your gaming console.
The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro impresses on multiple fronts, offering high-quality audio, a clear microphone, active noise cancellation, a feature-rich app, simultaneous Bluetooth connectivity, decent battery life, and more. While an extended battery life would have been appreciated, the inclusion of ANC and a swappable battery compensates for this minor shortfall.
The price, retailing at $329, places it in the premium headset category, but its compatibility with PS5, PS4, PC, Mac, and the Nintendo Switch broadens its appeal. The Turtle Beach Stealth Pro stands as an all-in-one gaming headset, delivering exceptional performance across all your devices.
